For YCC Finance Director, The Politic endorses John Risbergs.

While John lacks experience in the Yale College Council, he has demonstrated a firm understanding of how the YCC allocates money and what his role would be as Finance Director. John’s platform focuses on increasing the transparency of the YCC budget and boosting funding for student groups. He has called for 70% of the increased YCC funding from the increase in student activities fee to go to supporting club sports teams and other undergraduate organizations. John also says he wants the YCC to implement a Venmo or Twitter-like program that would transparently show how the YCC is spending its money. In looking through past budgets, John has been dismayed by allocations that the YCC has referred to as “miscellaneous” and been unable to clearly explain.

John’s opponent, Daniel Tovbin, is currently the Treasurer for the Sophomore Class Council and would likely serve effectively as Finance Director. However, John’s clear plan for how he would allocate money and his concerns about how the YCC budget would affect student-athletes and those on financial aid have convinced The Politic that he deserves your vote.
