Divisive politics are not just found at the national level. At the second Connecticut gubernatorial debate, there was more ad hominem than actual discourse. This isn’t surprising. But, what I did find surprising was the large amount of audience participation. Apart from the occasional hackling, the mood was festive. There were plenty of steaks dipped in cheese to go around, glasses of red and white wine to be claimed by coupons, scones and sushi. It was a party, though of what, I can’t quite see.
