Who We Are

Founded in 1947, The Politic — in its various incarnations — has served Yale and the larger intellectual community by providing top-notch analysis of international relations, domestic politics, strategic-military affairs, and the art of statecraft for over fifty years. We seek to effect informed discussion of not only the major issues of the day, but also the long-term development of the United States and the international system. Our contributors have included prominent heads of state, legislators, academics, and journalists; our past editors-in-chief include Robert Kagan and Fareed Zakaria. The Politic is a tradition — yet it is also an evolving publication that seeks to keep pace with the times while preserving our core values and never losing sight of our raison d‘être.
